Things to Eat in Chicago

Chicago’s culinary scene is among the best in the world. Whether you’re looking for fast-casual food or a Michelin-starred dinner you’re sure to find something tasty!
Fast-casual grub:
- Devil Dawgs – perfect for a traditional Chicago Dog and a small business! We love the chicken tenders and milkshakes!
- Portillos – a Chicago classic – we recommend the chocolate cake
- D’Amato’s Bakery – adorable local italian bakery serving subs and sweets. Be prepared to wait in a daunting (but speedy) line!
- Osaka Sushi and Fresh Fruit Smoothies – we highly recommend adding boba to a smoothie
Deep Dish Pizza:
- Gino’s East – Carrie’s favorite! Their cornmeal crust is unparalleled.
- Lou Malnati’s – Avery’s favorite! They find the perfect crust to sauce to cheese ratio.
- Giordano’s – Our compromise! The perfect middle-of-the-road Chicago deep dish.
Sit-down meals:
- Francesca’s on Chestnut – our neighborhood italian restaurant. They have fantastic homemade pastas!
- Kai Zan – a wonderful sushi spot with an omakase menu that features a variety of fresh fish at a very reasonable price
- Gaijin – a unique spot for okonomiyaki (Japanese cabbage pancakes) and a spot we frequented when Avery lived in west loop!
- Robert’s Pizza and Dough Company – serving more traditional style pizzas with unique flavor combinations
Elevated eats:
- Ikigai Sushi and Izakaya – do the omakasi! You won’t regret it!
- Untitled Supper Club – modeled after the supper clubs of old, a highly delicious and unique dining experience
- Omakase Yume – Michelin starred sushi, need reservations in advance
- Boka – another Michelin starred dining experience that is well worth the trip!
