We met on Bumble in April of 2021. Avery had a dog in his profile picture which made him the perfect partner as far as I (Carrie) was concerned! (It was sadly his parents’ dog). We met at the Chicago Riverwalk and strolled the entire length twice over the course of several hours, stopping for drinks and snacks along the way. It felt like we were long-lost friends meeting up rather than strangers meeting for the first time. Our second date was a week later at Recess and from that point forward we were practically inseparable. We went camping, on sailing expeditions, to Avery’s frisbee practices (where Carrie studied), and to Carrie’s first college football game (Go Blue!).

After dating for almost a year, we endured Match Day. The infamous day where medical students learn their fates regarding where they will spend the next years of their lives in training. Luckily, Carrie matched at Northwestern! We moved in together a month later introducing our two cats to each other in the process. While they started out as adversaries (Tina was very excited to have someone to tackle, Simber wanted to be left alone), they became fast friends.
